 Meine erste Reise in die USA. Trotzdem kommt mir vieles von dem, was ich sehe, bekannt vor. Filme, Fotografien, Nachrichten, Musik, Texte und Videospiele vermischen sich mit dem realen Amerika.

 Die Nachrichtenlage: Die Kluft zwischen Demokraten und Republikanern wird immer größer. Ebenso die Kluft zwischen Arm und Reich. Den Namen Trump hört man jetzt oft.

 Ich fahre mit Bussen oder bin zu Fuß unterwegs. Einmal gehe ich nachts lange neben einem, der gerade aus dem Motel geworfen wurde. No money left, man. Alles was er besitzt, trägt er bei sich. Ein Rucksack und eine große Tasche an der ein Paar kaputter Stiefel hängt. Beides wirkt tonnenschwer. Er spricht ganz offen. On my way Downtown, to the City of Austin. Tryin‘ to get a job there.

 Der amerikanische Traum. Irgendwie. Er ist schwer zu finden. You know where the Busstop is?

Ich sage: Right on, at the end of the street.

Er hält kurz inne, sieht mich an und fragt:

Where is YOUR car, man?

 My first trip to the USA. Yet a lot of the things i see, seem to be familiar. Movies, photographs, news, music, texts and video games mix up with the real-world USA.

 The News: the gap between Democrats and Republicans gets bigger. And so is the social divide. People start talking about Donald Trump.

 I take the bus or walk. One night i walk next to someone who has been thrown out of his motel. No money left, man. He is carrying everything he owns. A backpack and a pair of wrecked boots hanging at a large bag. They seem to weigh a ton. He speaks frankly. On my way Downtown, to the City of Austin. Tryin‘ to get a job there.

 The american dream. Somehow. It's hard to find. You know where the Busstop is? I say: Right on, at the end of the street. He stops, looking at me and wondering:

Where is your car, man?
